Our Mission

T.R.A.D. J.A.S.S. is a non-profit corporation founded to preserve, promote and perpetuate Traditional Ragtime and Dixieland Jazz music.  And of course Strutting is strongly encouraged too!

About T.R.A.D. J.A.S.S.

The Traditional Ragtime And Dixieland Jazz Appreciation & Strutters Society (or T.R.A.D. J.A.S.S.) was formed in 1985 to preserve, perpetuate and promote live performance of America's classic early jazz and ragtime music. The Society presents live Dixieland jazz on the first Sunday afternoon of every month at The Last Day Saloon, located at 120 Fifth Street in Santa Rosa, CA.  A different headliner band is showcased each month, along with as many as six informal jam sessions that feature local musicians.  This is the music of old New Orleans, from the days of Storyville, the hot dance music of the Roaring 20's, of ragtime and blues, the works of giants like Louis Armstrong, King Oliver, Kid Ory, Jelly Roll Morton and Bay Area legends such as Lu Watters and Turk Murphy.  Listeners and dancers alike will find something to delight their musical senses at every meeting (event).  Classic dance steps like the Lindy, Balboa and Charleston come alive again at T.R.A.D. J.A.S.S. events.  Listeners and dancers of all ages feel right at home.  So if you like the toe-tapping, upbeat and happy sounds of this uniquely American music, then T.R.A.D. J.A.S.S. is the place for you!  Strutters are welcome!

Musicians Welcome

As many as six "Jam" sets begin at 1:00 PM with the last set ending at 4:30 PM.  While all jammers are welcome, those who call or e-mail ahead of time will receive first consideration.  Musicians who want to play should call or e-mail:  David Slater (707)573-9226

Additional information such as suggested tunes and past jammers can be found in our Newsletter.
